[SitM: more good news for EDM – the more you tell people they can’t have something, the more they want it]

Two major movie theater chains, AMC and Regal, have instructed their properties not to show “Electric Daisy Carnival Experience,” about an increasingly popular annual electronic dance music festival, after a confrontation between fans and the police during an event last week in Los Angeles to promote the film, which is scheduled to open nationally on Thursday.

“It is extremely disheartening that some theaters wrongly associated an unaffiliated block party, and its disorderly crowd, with the private screening of the film,” Insomniac, the movie’s promoter and the festival’s organizer, posted on its Web site, adding that the movie, which features interviews with or performances by rave music stars like David Guetta, Steve Aoki and DJ Kaskade, whose impromptu street performance set off the Los Angeles disturbance, “will continue to be shown in hundreds of theaters nationwide.”
